Wine Cask Restaurant offers a farm to table experience in beautiful and historical downtown Santa Barbara. The markets serve to strengthen the local communities ties and help to provide weekly events at no cost while enhancing our community’s quality of life. Each week the farmers in the marketplace display a colorful bounty of agricultural products grown right in our backyard. Seasonal diversity is available year round rain or shine. Using local ingredients, as opposed to those sourced from outside of the area, is environmentally sound as it reduces the dependence on fossil fuels to transport foods, which cuts down on carbon dioxide emissions. It also supports local agricultural workers (boosting local economies), and helps reduce food waste. Diners benefit further by consuming foods grown nearby as fresher foods have higher levels of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Equally important, utilizing local ingredients allows chefs and at-home cooks to explore tastes that are unique to specific regions and gives them the tools to create a truly local, cultural cuisine.
